The Yasawa Islands of Fiji, located in the South Pacific east of Australia are both stunning and remote. Their relatively small size, mountain ranges and beautiful waters make it a popular destination for travelers. Cheap flights to Yasawa Islands are unavailable to Australian travellers, with getting to the islands a little more complicated than visiting other parts of Fiji. Once on the islands however, the pristine beaches and lagoons are breath-taking and some of the most scenic in the Fiji Islands, let alone the world.
There is only one airstrip on the Yasawa Islands, located on Yasawa Island itself. Pacific Island Seaplanes fly to the airstrip daily in amphibious planes for Yasawa Island Resort guests only. Others wishing to fly to the Yasawa Islands will need to book travel with Turtle Airways to charter a private transfer to the other Islands. Individuals with private planes will need to contact the local authorities for flight permission and requirements.
The Yasawa Islands are reachable by boat as well, on the Yasawa Flyer leaving from Denarau Island, Fiji on a daily basis. Resorts on the other islands will send charter boats to pick up guests from the Yasawa Flyer. To get to Denarau is simple, with easy access from Australia. Air Pacific flies daily from many cities in Australia to the Suva Nausori Airport on Denarau Island. To get from the airport to the boat dock for the Yasawa Flyer will requires a two and a half hour drive by private car, shuttle or taxi. Some resorts include this shuttle service in their Yasawa Islands holidays package.
