The capital city of the country, Suva sits on the south-eastern coast of Viti Levu Island in Fiji. The metropolis is also the largest of the country’s cities. Suva Harbour meets Suva’s peninsula on its western coast and Laucala Bay is on the eastern side.

Coastal Wetlands – Much of the land along the coast and peninsula where Suva is built is wetlands with mangrove swamps.
Forest – Whilst the coastal region is a swamp, the city does have palm trees and other tropical plants and trees growing within the city limits. The surrounding region has jungle rainforests with beautiful wild orchids, and wildlife like the flying fox and colourful parrots that screech.
Laucala Bay – The bay to the east of Suva now has an urbanized coast, but it has been a wetlands fishing ground for many years.
Reclaimed Lands – Some of the city land is reclaimed from the swamp. This property has been engineered to become stable for further urban development.
Suva Harbour – The harbour is found to the west from the Suva Peninsula, and the city’s coastline facing this body of water is a great place to witness sunset in paradise.
